# MySQL Access Denied

## Cause

This error likely means that your [MySQL](https://www.aptible.com/docs/core-concepts/managed-databases/supported-databases/mysql.md) client is trying to connect without SSL, but MySQL [Databases](https://www.aptible.com/docs/core-concepts/managed-databases/managing-databases/overview.md) on Aptible require SSL.
